Our Vision

To become a catalyst for a future where creative exploration, inclusivity and community create the foundation for a more perfect world.

As Hickory Museum of Art continues to bring vibrant programming, new ideas, and creativity to our community, you are the fuel that makes it happen!

Our team is so grateful for the investment of donors like you, whose generosity has enabled our ability to thrive, evolve, and grow during these uncertain times. After a record-breaking year highlighted by the Works by Warhol exhibition, HMA is charging forward with a new FY 2021-2025 strategic plan. This bold document provides a roadmap for how North Carolina’s second oldest, but most innovative art museum will break new ground in the years ahead. Already, we are making progress on the action items it entails, fulfilling our ambition to be the best museum of our size in the country.

Contributing to the Annual Fund is an important step in ensuring the sustainability of the energy, vibrancy, and momentum that have defined our recent successes. Your donations have never meant more to our team and will support the museum’s general operating, staffing, and overhead expenses in this ever-changing world.

Did you know, in the months ahead, HMA will:

Present blockbuster exhibitions that will bring noteworthy collections from major museums to our community. On loan from the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation, The Improvisational Quilts of Susana Allen Hunter will tell the inspiring story of how the artist transformed her family’s clothes into breathtaking works of modern design.

In partnership with the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, HMA will give visitors a behind-the-scenes look at acclaimed children’s book author and illustrator Mo Willems’s creative process during Elephant and Piggie in WE ARE ART! (A Mo Willems Exhibition).

Launch new school tours in partnership with K64’s Character Education Initiative and Lenoir Rhyne University’s Little Read Program. These collaborations will insert visits to the Museum’s galleries into the curriculum for elementary students in Hickory Public, Newton-Conover, and Catawba County schools.

Already, many businesses, members, and friends of HMA have stepped forward to build a base of over $127,253 toward this year’s $235,000 Annual Fund Goal. We hope that you will join our efforts by making a contribution that will sustain all that is happening at your favorite museum. Donations received by our Fiscal Year End (June 2022) will be reflected on the response cards that will line our entrance gallery. We’ll also be tracking our Annual Fund progress on a banner outside of the building, so the world will know how our community loves HMA!

Every donation counts, whether it’s $1 or >$25,000! HMA has multiple giving level opportunities to fit every budget.
